A is for Accident

I have signed up for the A to Z blogging challenge for April.  So, here goes!

     A is for Accident

As I sat in my living room on Easter Sunday afternoon playing games on my tablet, a jarring noise sliced through the serenity of a peaceful quiet.  My daughter and I jumped up to look out the window.  We could not see much, but there was a care blocking part of the street about half a block away.  My husband came from the back of the house saying it looked like a motorcycle was down.

I raced out the front door and down the street.  There were a couple other neighbors arriving at the scene about the same time I got there.  A white Prius was blocking part of the street with it's nose in the court in front of it.  There was a huge dent in the side of it and the back passenger window was shattered.

There was a white motorcycle on it's side.  The fork looked bent.  There were scratches on the chrome and tank.  And, the headlight was broken.  Both passengers from the motorcycle were on the ground.

The woman from the motorcycle appeared to have a broken hand.  It seemed as if the man who was on the motorcycle probably had at least one broken rib from hitting the car.  They are both very lucky, because I think the man's head is what hit the window of the car.

Both passengers of the car seemed to be o.k.   Although, I'm sure all four are very sore today.  We stood down there until the emergency help came.  This included three cops, a fire truck and an ambulance.

It seems as if the driver of the Prius started to pull over to the side of the road.  The motorcycle people thought he was parking.  The Prius driver so how was not aware there was a motorcycle behind him and was actually getting ready to do a u-turn in the middle of the street.  The motorcycle did not have time to stop and ran into the side of the Prius.

The ambulance left empty.  The man and woman from the motorcycle walked up the road.  The woman  had one of those inflatable stabilizers on her hand.  Once all was said and done, there was still a mess of glass and debris in the road, but I think everyone will heal completely.

This is not the first accident that has happened this close to our house.  Our street is fairly busy and people seem to get stupid around here.  We had a teenage boy slam into the light standard in front of our house once.  He hit it hard enough that it threw the pole across our lawn.  He managed to do this from the intersection that has a stop sign at it diagonally across the street from our house.

I had just told our new neighbors, next door, to be careful when they have their dog outside with them.  There tends to be a lot of crazy drivers the come through here.
