Morning Routine

It's a few minutes before 5:00 a.m. in the morning.  I did not set my alarm clock, but yet I'm getting up no matter if it is a weekday or weekend.  I have one Scottie groaning in my ear and another one nudging my lips with her nose.  "We're hungry, NOW!  Time to feed us!"

The little leader

Without really seeing anything I manage to put on my robe and take my short legged fur friends down off the bed.  One of them leads the way down the hall, tail wagging.  The other is behind me poking me in the calf to hurry me along.

The calf poker gets her food first because otherwise she'll stick her nose in her sister's bowl.  The leader is patient and waits for her food to be shoveled into her bowl.  Then, the crunching starts.  I try to go lay down on the couch until they are finished, but little leader comes in and stares at me until I come back in the kitchen with them.  Then, she will finish her food.

The calf poker

Once the chomping is done, it's time to go outside.  This is my chance to relieve myself, too.  By the time I get back to the kitchen, the two furry demanding goddesses are ready to come back in and now they want attention.  I can try to lay back down, if it's a weekend, but Miss Moaner will stand and stare at me and keep talking until I give in and either give her a belly rub or play with her.

Orneriness x2

I really just want some more rest.  These two are wonderful alarm clocks except that they did not come equipped with snooze buttons.

  2. What is it with that staring thing? It's like a form of Jedi mind control! Z-

  3. We two little trouble makers too, but ours shed. We have Pomeranians. One moans and sighs, and the other says Mff! Mff! every 20 seconds, until we get up. Oh the joys of dog ownership, er slavery. ;) Our next dogs will be NON-SHEDDING. Maybe Scotties. :)

    1. Oh how cute!!! We've always had Scotties. They do shed, but not like Poms do. It's pretty minimal. They have minds of their own that's for sure!

  4. Our four footed friends can be harsh taskmasters when they want their breakfast.

    1. Yes! Yes, they can! Or when they want attention, or when they want us to play with them, etc! LOL!

  5. Our Golden has aged nicely. She now sleeps in past 6:30. Cute pups!

    1. The Scottie we used to have got better about sleeping later as she got older, too. These two are not yet 2 years old, though.

  6. I can't say that I'm a pet person. When I married Kellie I made a hard and fast rule - no pets. And it's a good thing I made that law because in our 16 years of marriage we've had 3 dogs and 18 cats. Can you imagine how many pets we might of had if I hadn't stood my ground?

    1. LOL! See, I had to make it clear before we got married that we would have Scotties. :-)

  7. Ahh, the elusive snooze button. My kids didn't come with that feature either and it's too late to send them back (the warranty expired). Your dogs are darling!

    1. My kids used to be like that, too. Several years ago we bought alarm clocks and made a rule that they could not come out of their rooms on the weekends before 7:00 a.m. It worked well for us. My son still gets up around 7 on the weekends, but since my daughter became a teenager, she sleeps in more.

  8. I hope you get to go back to sleep on weekends. Somehow our lab got so he could wait. I would always walk him first thing on waking early on weekdays -- but started waiting an hour or so before till the kids got up to do it. Thank goodness he seems okay with it and no more whines at 4:30 on Saturday morning.

    1. I usually get to go back to sleep for a little while, but a lot of times it's more of an up and down thing because my fur princesses want out, then they want to play, then they want out... etc.

  9. Your dogs are adorable! Sorry they don't let you sleep more. My dog is less of a sleep issue than my 9yo (who never sleeps in).

    1. Thank you. We are very anamored of them. My kids used to be bad about getting up early on the weekends, but they aren't so bad anymore. Our two pups are not yet 2 so they are pretty young. Our Scottie that we used to have got better about sleeping in when she got older.

  10. Oh, cuties! We're dogless for the first time in 14 years and I hate it. I miss those expectant stares and the happy tail wagging. A lot.

    1. We were dogless for a year after our other Scottie passed. It was really hard on the kids and me. But, it all turned out good!

  11. So many dog lovers. Your poochies are little dolls. Believe it or not, all of my dogs like to sleep late. It means, no human is leaving them for the day.

  12. Such cute pups!! I miss my dog terribly. He was quite an alarm clock too.

  13. As my dog gets older, he is less reliable as an alarm clock. Still, his whining or wet nose in my ear get me out of bed. But as soon as he has been fed and let outside, he wants nothing more than to go back to bed!

  14. Puppies! I can't imagine being woken up by my dog - he's a sleeper.
