He is Risen

     "Christ the Lord is Risen today.  Alleluia"

     So begins my VERY FAVORITE hymn.  I do not talk a lot about my religious beliefs.  This is mainly because I feel my relationship with God to be very personal.  I can be quite emotional about it and I just do not open up in that way to many people.  

     However, when it comes to Easter Sunday and that hymn I cannot help but smile and share.  Be glad you don't have to sit anywhere near me at church.  I am NOT a good singer, but that does not stop me when it comes to a favorite hymn.  




     This hymn is my very favorite not only because of it's message and the celebration of that message, but because it's so upbeat.  When pounded out on an organ it just penetrates into me and wraps itself around my heart, embracing the strongest of my emotions and beliefs.  It makes me feel alive.  It gives me hope.  It feels like a big breath of fresh air after a soft spring rain.  It radiates light to rival the sun.  It is the epitome of everything I am grateful for in my life.

     Isn't that what music is supposed to do, though?  It's supposed to elicit emotional responses and talk to that innermost part of us that other forms of communication cannot seem to reach.  For me, this hymn does that and more.

Izzy Loves the Snow!

Izzy says, "Oh JOYFUL DAY!"

By the way, I stopped recorded just as she squatted to poop.  You're welcome!

     My family is leaving me! 

I am going to be all by myself! 

Ok, so just for an evening and most of Saturday.  My husband and kids are taking a hunter safety class this weekend.  So, I will be home alone.

     I will drop the kids off at my husband's work this evening so they can leave from there.  They will be gone about 4 or 5 hours this evening.  Then, tomorrow they will be gone for about 9 hours.  That's somewhere around 13/14 hours of alone time.

     I am looking forward to this.  I love all three of them endlessly, but I do like my alone time, too.  Being alone allows me to breath and think freely.  I don't have to think about how my words are going to affect anyone else.  I don't have to worry about anyone else's needs.  I can pick my nose if I want.  I can dance around the house naked and sing as loud as I want without scaring anyone, well except maybe the dogs, but they are much more tolerant than humans.  I can watch whatever I want on television and not have anyone interrupt it. I can fart where ever I want and not worry about someone commenting on it.  I get to eat whatever I want for dinner! 

 

     Of course, I enjoy this because it doesn't happen a lot.  If I had a lot of alone time, it would probably be depressing.  But, for now, I am going to enjoy this, especially since I only had to work three hours today.  .

Of Snow and Ice

     One of the perks of being a teacher is snow days.  That is when they happen.  For some reason we do not get snow like we used to get when I was growing up, but it still does happen.  The district I work for managed to make it through the whole year last year without having to call off for a snow day.

     Imagine my joy when my district called off school for today at 6:00 p.m. last night!  OK, that just doesn't happen.  Of course most people were scoffing at all the districts calling off school so early.  I was too happy to have an unexpected day off to be condemn officials for calling off long before the weather was predicted to hit.  Although, I don't blame those that did get irritated because it has become a joke around here about how often the predictions are wrong when it comes to snow.

But today the weather people and the school officials all get a happy face 

AND a gold star.

     They got it right.  We may not have gotten anything until late morning, but the roads around here have gotten horrible.  We are getting ice on top of several inches of snow.  This all happening at the time of day that I would be trying to get home.  

     My kids have enjoyed it the day today.  They all went out and played in it until the ice started.  Apparently falling ice hurts.  

     The fur kids have enjoyed the day, too.  They have romped and played in the snow every time we've let them out.  Of course this means they come in with snow and ice matted in their skirts and beards.  Such is the life of a Scottish Terrier.

     Our YMCA also closed down early today, so my daughter does not have swim practice either.  The pool will remain empty tonight and lonely tonight.

     So, I will just remain in my PJ's as I have most of the day and go fix some spaghetti for dinner and be grateful that I don't have to be out in the 4+ inches of snow and ice that we got.
